Mantalungon is famous as the summer capital of Cebu because it is 700 to 800 meters above sea level giving it a pleasant climate all year round. The high elevation has made the village an ideal place to grow flowers, vegetables and other high-value crops, which gives Mantalungon the reputation of being the vegetable basket of Cebu.
How to get there:
From Cebu South Bus Terminal, You should take the buses traveling southward to Oslob or Bato via Dalaguete and get off at the Dalaguete junction. The bus fare is 106 Php and travel time is approximately 3 Hours. When you reach Dalaguete, you can take a Habal-habal (motorbike) that will take you to Mantalungon. The fare is 100 Pph per person per way. Travel Time is 45 mins to 1 hour. At the jumping-off point of Osmena Peak, tourist are required to sign the Osmena Peak Tourism Center and pay the entrance (30Php), always ask for receipt.
Thing to Consider
*Travel time takes about 3.5 hours from Cebu City Area *The road from Dalaguete Proper up to Mantalongon Market is good, but from the market to the peak's drop-off point is a little challenging - some parts are rough road, although they are getting worked on. *Primary means of transportation in getting there from Dalaguete proper is Habal2x (Motorbike for hire) *Local guides will approach you, there is no regulated guide fee, its up to you, but usually 150 Php per guide will do. *Although the transportation's drop-off area is just a 30 minute hike to the peak, some parts going to it are quite steep, thereby would require a person to be physically fit. *Don't forget to wear shoes.
